Xavier Hernández Creus (Xavi) born January 25, 1980 is a Spanish football manager and former player who is now the manager of La Liga team Barcelona. Xavi was widely regarded as one of the best midfielders of all time for his passing, vision, ball retention, and positioning.

Xavi joined La Masia, Barcelona's junior system, at the age of 11 and made his first-team debut in August 1998 against Mallorca. He scored 85 goals in 767 official matches, a club record that Lionel Messi now holds. Xavi is the club's first player to appear in 150 European and FIFA Club World Cup matches. Xavi has eight La Liga wins and four UEFA Champions League titles to his credit with Barcelona.

In 2009, Xavi finished third in the FIFA World Player of the Year award, and in 2010 and 2011, he finished third in the FIFA Ballon d'Or award. He came in second to Messi for the UEFA Best Player in Europe Award in 2011. He moved to Al Sadd in 2015, winning four trophies before retiring in 2019. He is one of the few players who has appeared in over 1,000 games in his professional career.

Club Experience of Xavi 

In his first season as a senior in 1998, Xavi made national headlines. He scored in his La Liga debut, giving Barcelona a 3-1 victory. He was selected La Liga Breakthrough Player of the Year the following year as a result of his consistent great performances.

Xavi was named vice-captain of the squad in 2004 and took on the role with great responsibility, assisting Barcelona in winning La Liga and the Supercopa de Espana for two years in a row. He was also named the Spanish Player of the Year by La Liga.

At various ages, Xavi has been a key member of Spain's national squad. He represented Spain at the U17, U18, U20, U21, and U23 levels, as well as in the core team from 2000 to 2014. He was a member of the silver-medal winning team at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

After Spain defeated Germany 1–0 in the final, Xavi was voted Player of the Tournament at Euro 2008. Xavi was not only strong in the midfield, but he was also quick with his metronomic passing and his game reading was crucial to Spain's win.

In 2010, Spain won their first FIFA World Cup, and Xavi's influence can be measured by the fact that he made the most accurate passes (599 with a 91 percent passing success rate) and crossed the ball inside the 18-yard box more than any other player in the tournament.
